Detaranto, Kline Shut Down Manassas Park

STERLING, VA - Mike Detaranto pitched four innings of one run ball and Jacob Kline threw three perfect innings in relief as the Potomac Falls Panthers rallied to score four runs in the 4th inning to defeat Manassas Park, 4-1.

Detaranto gave up a quick run in the first inning on consecutive hits by Gipper Breeden and Nate Hoffa before settling down and throwing four strong innings for the Panthers. Detaranto only gave up two additional hits after the first inning, recording four strikeouts and no walks, along the way. Kline came in to start the fifth inning and finished the game retiring all nine batters he faced, adding four strikeouts.

The Panthers had a rough time getting on the scoreboard as they loaded the bases in the first and third innings but could not push a run across the plate. After two quick outs in the fourth inning, Greg Woodlief and Chad McMichael walked and advanced on a wild pitch before Aaron Sweger hit a two RBI double to the gap in right\center field. Rob Malan followed Sweger with a walk, and Mike Spring drove them both home with a single to centerfield to give Potomac Falls a 4-1 lead and end the scoring.

Highlights for Potomac Falls was Aaron Sweger going 3-4 (2 RBI's), Mike Spring 1-2, 2 RBI's, Mike Detaranto and Jacob Kline combining for 4 hits and 8 strikeouts.
