Blue Chip Report: Metheny Snags Two Offers

STEPHENS CITY, VA - It didn't take long for one of the state's top quarterback prospects to start getting scholarship offers this spring. Sherando's Ross Metheny, fresh of a stellar junior season, has received an offer from the University of Virginia and also the University of Connecticut.
Metheny led the Warriors to the state championship game last December, but broke his ankle in the first half, which ended his season, and Sherando's chances of toppling defending champion Amherst. When Metheny left the contest, the Warriors were leading 10-7 and had the ball in Amherst territory.
The left handed signal caller needed surgery to repair his ankle, but has since recovered and is training for the 2008 season. Connecticut offered Metheny a few weeks back, and it is expected that many more schools will try to recruit the most successful quarterback in Sherando history to their school between now and next fall.
Metheny was a unanimous All Gameday selection for the second consecutive year and finished his junior season with 24 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions. Under Metheny's leadership, Sherando went 13-1 this season, and has won an impressive 33 games since he became the starter as a freshman.
