Slay, Thompson Get Offers From N.C State

ASHBURN, VA - The end of one recruiting season has led to the start of another for Stone Bridge's Brian Slay. The Junior defensive lineman picked up an offer from N.C State on Thursday. Slay and teammate Zach Thompson both were offered by the ACC school all but guaranteeing that the Bulldogs will have a big recruiting celebration next February.

Slay moved to Ashburn from Georgia this past fall and immediately became a staple point of the Stone Bridge defense, helping the Bulldogs to their first ever State Championship and a record 14 wins. His dominant play from his defensive end position helped the Bulldog defense stifle Phoebus and Potomac in consecutive weeks to cap off the magical championship season.

Thompson has already received an offer from UVA and now will have another option after the Wolfpack gave the 6'5 defensive end another invite to come play in the ACC. Stone Bridge will send guard David Wang to Virginia Tech next spring and could have another prospect or two emerge before it is all said and done. Wang committed to the Hokies before his junior season, just like his older brother Ed, who now starts at right tackle for Virginia Tech.

Stone Bridge has become quite the major recruiting hotbed in recent years with five players signing major division 1 scholarships since 2004. 3-time All Gameday safety Jeron Gouveia signed on the dotted line on Wednesday to play for the Hokies. Gouveia is the only 3-time All State defensive player from Loudoun County and arguably the best player this area has seen in decades.
