Chargers Top Rams in Concorde Semi-Finals

(FAIRFAX, VA)--The Chantilly Chargers beat the Robinson Rams 59-44 in the Concorde District tournament semi-finals last night. Chantilly junior guard and Concorde District Player of the Year, Justin May, scored 10 points as he led the Chargers to their second straight victory over the Rams this season. One of the team's losses this season came against the Rams earlier in the year; 52-41.

Chantilly senior forward Austin Decker finished with 12 points, including eight in the third quarter. "We just picked up our intensity on defense and got the offense going," Decker said.

Chantilly coach Jim Smith said the team played good transition offense and was able to come up with many defensive stops against the Rams. "Getting in the passing lane was the right defense for us tonight," Smith said; "and forcing them to score off the dribble."

Chantilly will now face off with the Westfield Bulldogs, who defeated Herndon to earn their spot in the district tournament finals. The two teams swapped victories this season, with the home team winning once each. The game is scheduled for Friday night; however, if there is inclement weather the game could be moved to Saturday night. The game will be played at Robinson High School with a scheduled start time of 8:00PM on either night.

The game is scheduled to be broadcast on the Gameday Radio Network, exclusively at www.GamedayMagazine.com
