Newell Wins Gold At ACC Championship
(ATLANTA, GA)--Megan Newell, a 2005 graduate of Stone Bridge High School, won her first gold at the 2008 ACC Swimming Championships at Georgia Tech University this past week. Newell was part of the 200 medley relay team that made school history, winning the event with a school, and pool, record time of 1:40.17. This was the first time Virginia Tech women have captured an ACC relay title. Newell was the third leg of the relay swimming butterfly. Newell was also part of the 400 medley relay that placed second with another school record. Sadly, she also finished a disappointing 5th, in the 100 butterfly, after finishing the season with the fastest ACC time of 54.2. Newell is a junior at Virginia Tech.
