Lady Raiders Roll; Down Spartans 54-49

ASHBURN, VA - The Lady Raiders took to the road Tuesday night, and came away with their 15th consecutive victory, defeating the Broad Run Spartans, 54-49, to improve to 17-2 overall and 11-0 in Dulles District play. Loudoun County built a 36-17 lead at halftime, and held off a late Broad Run charge, to secure the win.
The Raiders were led by freshman sensation, Brittany Batts, with a team high 19 points. Batts also collected 4 steals and 4 rebounds in the win. Junior point guard Kerry Sarver started the game off by scoring 9 of her 10 points in the first quarter, as County lead 21-7 after the 1st frame. Sarver also tallied 5 steals in the game. Senior Samantha Akers also hit double digits, scoring 11 points. Sophomore Kendra Holmes was big again in the paint for the Lady Raiders. Holmes pulled down 10 rebounds to go along with her 9 points.
The Lady Raiders will be back in action on Friday night, at Briar Woods, while the Lady Spartans host the Park View Patriots. Both games are scheduled for 7:30pm.
