Bulldogs Cruise To Concorde Title

(FAIRFAX, VA)--Congratulations to the Westfield Bulldogs, as they claim the Concorde District tournament title over cross-town rival Chantilly in easy fashion 68-56. The Bulldogs started the game hot, while the Chargers were ice cold. Westfield was able to jump out to what would be an insurmountable lead of 16-3 at the end of the first quarter.
Chantilly was unable to come up with any answers for the Westfield output. Turnovers proved to be the difference of the ballgame, as Chantilly committed too many to overcome. The teams traded baskets throughout the game after the 1st quarter. The score was in Westfield's favor 29-19 at the half and the Bulldogs would not look back in the 2nd half. The Bulldogs outscored the Chargers 39-37 in the second half en route to the final score of 68-56.
The Chargers were led by Justin May in the loss with 21 points. Also contributing for the Chargers were John Manning and Robbie Athearn with 7 points apiece, Adam Fridy with 9 and Jake Nolan who scored 2 points on the evening.
The Westfield Bulldogs were led by tournament MVP Jamie Richardson, who also scored 21 points on the night. Maurice "Mo" Hubbard dropped in 12 points, while Peter Scanlon added 11 in the win.
Both teams will be moving on into the Northern Region tournament to be held next week. The Westfield Bulldogs will be into the tournament as a number 1 seed, while the Chargers will try to make a run from the number 2 seed position.

May led the Chargers in scoring in the loss with 21 points in the contest. The Chargers will look to the junior to be a crucial part of their run during the regional tournament.
Westfield: Jamie Richardson
After the game Richardson was named as the tournament MVP, leading the Bulldogs to the title and in scoring in this particular game with 21. Richardson and the Bulldogs will go into next week's regional tournament with high hopes of making a state playoff appearance.
