The 2007 All Gameday Running Backs
Markeith Brisco - Sherando
6'0, 190lbs......Senior
After a frustrating 2006 season, Markeith Brisco took center stage as Sherando's feature tailback, and he ran his way into the record books. Brisco rushed for 1,726 yards on 221 attempts this fall and scored an area best 26 touchdowns. His 7.8 yards per carry was good for third best all time in Warrior football history. Brisco was automatic in the red-zone, helping the Warriors to one of their best seasons in school history, and to an appearance in the state championship game. Brisco also played excellent defense at cornerback and recorded 3 interceptions against Park View in the regional title game. When the post-season started, Brisco put forth his best effort, scoring 5 touchdowns in the final 4 games of the season.
Breon Earl, Broad Run
5'8, 160lbs.......Junior
Entering the season, Broad Run needed a speed back to compliment their power running game. Enter Breon Earl. The junior emerged as a star for the Spartans, rushing for a team best 1,127 yards and 7 touchdowns on 172 carries. Earl's great vision and break away speed proved too much for the Dulles District as the Spartans were the area's best running football team. With the district championship on the line, Earl put in his most clutch performance of the season, rushing for 113 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries against Park View. He also threw a touchdown pass on a half back option to help the Spartans finish undefeated in the regular season for the first time ever.
Steve Tabot, Westfield
5-foot-8, 182 lbs.....Senior
A player that got progressively better with each game, Tabot ended up becoming one of the leading rushers in the Northern Region this year. Despite splitting carries for his team, Tabot ran for 1,208 yards on 88 carries and scored 14 touchdowns. Tabot's ability to get the tough yards as the primary tailback for the Bulldogs opened the passing game up for Glennon and crew. Following his dominant offensive line, Tabot punished opposing defenses and helped lead Westfield to their 2nd state championship in the past 5 seasons.....
Kareem Alexander, Stone Bridge
5-foot-10, 210 lbs......Senior
Stone Bridge's Kareem Alexander was without a doubt the emotional leader of the 14-1 state champion Bulldogs. Alexander shared the spotlight with other talented players, but he became a pivotal part of Stone Bridge's magical season. Alexander scored 12 touchdowns and rushed for 972 yards on 146 attempts in the Stone Bridge single wing attack. With teammate Daniel Allen lost for most of the season to an injury, Alexander stepped up to help Stone Bridge average over 40 points per game and set a school record for wins in a season......
