Thomas Mulabah - Park View
6'2, 280lbs......Senior
The state of Virginia's most dominant defensive lineman in 2006 was the same guy in 2007 in Park View's Thomas Mulabah. Mulabah was couldn't be blocked by a single offensive lineman all year long, recording 93 total tackles and an incredible 35 tackles for a loss. In two years, Mulabah finished with an astonishing 81 tackles behind the line of scrimmage for the Patriots. His outstanding play against the pass helped him lead the Dulles District with 11.5 sacks. Mulabah also forced a fumble and made 40 solo tackles from his defensive line position on his way to being named the Dulles District's defensive player of the year. Mulabah is a two time All Gameday selection......
George Black, Broad Run
6'2, 260lbs.......Senior
Broad Run's George Black became a household name in 2007 with his play on the Spartan defensive line. Black's consistency and leadership helped Broad Run to their first win over Park View in 15 years, and the school's first undefeated regular season. Black led his team in sacks with 5.5 on the year. In 11 games, he had 34 tackles, 23 assists, and one forced fumble. Black also recorded 14 tackles for a loss. Black also played full time on offense and was the team's punter in 2007......
Brian Barlow - Sherando
6'3, 215lbs......Senior
The defensive end helped lead a very talented Sherando team to the Group AA state title game. Barlow's size and ability was integral in the defense's success throughout the 2007 campaign. The Warriors defense only allowed 163 points all season, including 4 shutouts. Barlow was able to create mismatches all year long en route to recording 84 tackles, which ranked second on the Sherando defense. The senior also registered 8.5 sacks against opposing quarterbacks. Barlow was one of the best defensive ends in the state of Virginia in 2007. A versatile player, Barlow also caught 29 passes for 601 yards and 7 touchdowns on offense.
Garrett Smith, Park View
6'3, 215lbs......Senior
It's easy to get overlooked on film when you play on the same line with Thomas Mulabah, but Garrett Smith stood out just as much in 2007 for the Patriots, registering 97 total tackles and an impressive 20 tackles for a loss. Smith also sacked opposing quarterbacks 9 times, forced 2 fumbles, recovered 3 fumbles, and blocked a kick during his senior season. Smith's steady play made Park View's defense one of the best in the region in 2007. With Smith playing at a high level, the Patriots finished 10-2 and made their 3rd trip to the post-season......

Brian Slay, Stone Bridge
6-foot-3, 255 lbs.......Junior
Stone Bridge's Brian Slay emerged onto the scene in Northern Virginia during the 2007 season in a big way, posting 65 tackles and forcing 2 fumbles. Slay finished with 6 sacks which led all Stone Bridge defenders. His physical play on the edge helped shut down the running game of the opposition, and his athletic ability allowed him to keep the state's best athletes from getting to the corner. With another full year of training and confidence, Slay will be one of the best defensive end prospects in the state in 2008......
Derek Qadir, Robinson
6-foot-4, 220 lbs.
Helping to bring back the intimidating defensive pressure that has made the Rams one of the best in the state for decades, Derek Qadir put together a great senior season. Qadir finished with 9 sacks and 93 total tackles to help Robinson make it back to the playoffs again in 2007. A qualified game-changing defensive player, Qadir also knocked down 4 passes at the line of scrimmage, and his play this past year surely did not go unnoticed.....
Zach Thompson, Stone Bridge
6-foot-5, 240 lbs........Junior
Stealing the spotlight in the Thompson household can be a tough thing, but Zach came into his own in the 2007 football season. Thompson evolved this past year into a standout defensive end, leading the Bulldog defense to one of the best seasons ever in school history. Also on display this year was his strength, and opposing coaches witnessed just how tough it can be to block a player of Thompson's stature. Just a junior, Thompson's potential for next year is even greater as he has already received a scholarship offer from UVA. In 2007, Thompson registered 57 tackles, 3 sacks, 6 pass knockdowns, 1 punt block, 1 fumble recovery, and 3 forced fumbles......
Chris Leon, Westfield
6-foot-3, 260 lbs......Senior
A true force along the line, Leon was one of many key components of Westfield's stingy defense that shutdown the best offenses in the state in 2007. Leon was dominant from the first game on this season, recording 60 tackles and an impressive 7 sacks. Leon's big frame and quickness on the line helped put pressure on opposing quarterbacks and gave the Bulldogs a consistent player that was equally as tough against the run and the pass.......
