Panthers Survive Late Comeback - Down Titans

STERLING, VA - The Potomac Falls Panthers jumped out to a 27-10 lead and withstood a furious fourth quarter comeback by the Dominion Titans to come away with a 27-24 Senior Night victory at cold and rainy Panther Park.
The Panthers got 2 first half touchdowns from Junior Michael Baker and one from Quarterback Greg Woodlief to lead 21-10 at the half. The Titans scores came on a 1 yard run by Deandre Reaves, who was held to 12 yards on the night, and a 27 yard field goal by Tommy Kowalick.
The third quarter was scoreless and then things began to heat up. A Woodlief to Tarrell Owens 39 yard pass play put the Panthers up 27-10. The Titans came right back when Quarterback Geoff McCowat scored on a 2 yard keeper, to make it 27-16. The 2 point conversion attempt failed.
There was controversy on the ensuing kick off as the ball rolled dead at the Panther 1 yard line and it appeared the Panther receiver touched the ball while in the end zone. The Titan faithful were calling for a safety but after a lengthy discussion, the officiating crew ruled it a touchback and the ball was brought out to the 20.
The Titan defense rose up and stopped the Panthers on the next series taking over deep in their own territory. On a third and 12, McCowat found his favorite receiver, Henry Lobo, all alone on the sideline and Lobo outraced the Panther defenders to finish off an 82 yard play, making the score 27-24.
The Titans then attempted an onside kick which, but it was recovered by the Panthers. The Titan defense held once again but were unable to capitalize, and the Panthers were able to run out the clock to end the game.
The Panthers finish 4-6 while the Titans finish at 2-8.
