Brisco's 3TD's, 3INT's Help Warriors Win 38-0

STEPHENS CITY, VA - The game was hyped all week long to be one of the best of the year, but in the end, it turned into a blowout as undefeated Sherando defeated the Park View Patriots 38-0 in front of their home crowd at Arrowhead Stadium.
Park View appeared to catch a big break on the game's opening play as Warrior tight end Brian Barlow fumbled after a reception from Ross Metheny. The Patriots took over deep in Sherando territory, but a few plays later, Markeith Brisco intercepted Park View quarterback C.J Leizear to bail the Warriors out of a jam.
Sherando then got on the scoreboard first on a Brisco touchdown run from 60 yards out to make the score 7-0. The Warriors then turned up the pressure on Leizear and the Patriot offense and in a span of two quarters, intercepted the Dulles District's passing leader two more times. All three interceptions in the first half were made by Brisco, who had a career night in the shutout win over Park View.
The Warriors went into intermission with a commanding 24-0 lead, and they would never look back.
In the second half, the Warriors intercepted Leizear three more times and Metheny hit his favorite target Derek Crosen for a touchdown late in the 3rd quarter to make the score 31-0.
In the 4th quarter, Brisco put the final touches on the impressive regional championship win with a long touchdown run, his third of the night, and Sherando coasted to a 38-0 victory.
After the win, the Warriors celebrated their championship on the field and head coach Bill Hall shared a few words about the win and moving forward to the semi finals with the Gameday Radio crew on the air.
"That game against James Wood last week really woke us up," Hall said. "We need to play to our potential, and if we do that, I think we can live with the result whatever it is."
The Warriors improved to 12-0 on the season and will now play the winner of the Powhattan/Lafayette winner next Saturday. Due to the alternating schedule developed by the VHSL, the Warriors will travel to the Central Region winner this next week.
With the loss, Park View dropped to 10-2. The Patriots made their first appearance in the regional championship game under 3rd year head coach Andy Hill.
On behalf of the Gameday Magazine and Radio Staff, congratulations to the Sherando Warriors on the regional championship win, and we also wish the seniors at Park View
Game Notes:
While Markeith Brisco had 3 interceptions, his teammate Derek Crosen added two interceptions in the contest as well. The Warriors played possibly their best game defensively against the Patriots in the 38-0 win.
