Munro, Falcons, Dominate Titans On The Road

(Game Recap Provided By Dominion Gameday Insider)

The Briar Woods Falcons defeated the home standing Dominion Titans 35-14 in a Dulles District contest Friday night in front of a big home crowd in Sterling. Falcon's QB Alex Munro had a big night, going 18-23 for 178 yards and 3 touchdowns. Two of the touchdown tosses went to WR Tim King.

Briar Woods drew first blood on a 43 yard touchdown run by JT Bailey. After a Titans fumble on the ensuing possession, the Falcons took over on the Dominion 47. Munro then found King all alone for a 12 yard scoring pass to make it 14-0 Falcons at the end of the first quarter.

Although the Titan defense would stiffen in the second quarter, the offense could not get started against a blitzing Falcon defense. With time ticking away in the 2nd quarter, the Titans found themselves with a 4th and 1 at their own 30 and opted to go for it. They made the first down, but immediately fumbled it away. Munro then hit a wide open King, again, as time expired in the first half.

It was more of the same early in the second half as the Falcons scored on a 30 yard interception return by Devin Barber and a Munro to Brett Lefebrve 17 yarder. The Titans came alive late and scored on 2 touchdown passes from Geoff McCowat. McCowat hit Henry Lobo for a 33 yarder and Ben Dickerson from 13 yards out to make the final 35-14.

The Falcons return home next Friday to host an improving Loudoun County Raiders team, while the Titans will get ready to face Dulles District co-leader, Broad Run, at Titan Stadium. Both games will begin at 7:30 pm.
