Ingram's 2TD's Helps Bobcats Past Liberty 31-6
BEALETON, VA - Battlefield's Adrian Ingram scored twice in the first half to help the Bobcats get a big Cedar Run district win against the Liberty Eagles on Friday night. Both teams came into the game 2-0 in the Cedar Run. Both teams were also on winning streaks; Battlefield had won 4 straight and Liberty had won 3. The outcome of tonight's game could go along way in deciding won wins the Cedar Run title.
The Bobcats big three of Adrian Ingram, Erik Patterson and Corey Thacker all had big nights and were instrumental in the Bobcats win. Thacker threw two touchdown passes, one to Patterson and another to Bryant Osei. Patterson caught a go route for a 37 yard score. Patterson used his 6'3" frame to outmuscle a Liberty defender for the ball after he was interfered with. Osei was the recipient of a perfectly thrown ball on a 10 yard slant to push the score to 31-0.
Ingram carried the ball 23 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns. The Bobcats finished the night with 206 yards on the ground. Ingram also blocked a punt in the second half and played well on defense. Ingram is having a great junior season and is well on his way to ensuring his place on the All-Gameday team for 2007.
The Liberty Eagles offense struggled in the first half as they were held to just 42 yards of total offense. The Bobcat defense did a good job of not allowing the Eagle run game to get into a rhythm. Liberty was held to 163 total yards on the night.
Sam Ball-Whitfield got the Eagles on the board in the 4th quarter with a 43 yard touchdown run. Ball-Whitfield had 7 total touches in the game as he ran 4 time for 50 yards and caught 3 passes for 36 yards.
Battlefield and Fauquier now sit alone as the only two undefeated teams in the Cedar Run District. Liberty moves to 2-1 in the district and look to get back on the right track next week against the Osbourn Park Yellow Jackets. That game can be found on the Gameday Radio Network next Friday, the 19th.
