Gameday Power Poll: Week 9

1. WESTFIELD 9-0
Previous: 1
Next Up: at Centreville
While there were upsets going on in the rest of the Northern Region, Westfield displayed their dominance by taking out Oakton 35-0. It's now rivalry time for Westfield as they travel out to Centreville on a Saturday night in what promises to be a great game. Expect upwards of 7,000 fans to be on hand as Westfield tries to go undefeated in the regular season for a second year in a row.
2. SHERANDO 9-0
Previous: 3
Next Up: vs. Millbrook
Sherando took over the #2 spot as they dismantled Brentsville 34-14. The Sherando offense is still flying high, but that offense will be put to the test next week against 8-1 Millbrook. The Pioneers have been on a tear since losing to Briar Woods earlier in the year as they've rattled off eight straight victories. Now both Millbrook and Sherando will be meeting to decide the Northwestern District champ.
3. STONE BRIDGE 8-1
Previous: 4
Next Up: at Woodson
As expected, Stone Bridge walked away with another Liberty District victory, and this time their victim was the Colonials of Thomas Jefferson. One more win for Mickey Thompson's Bulldogs and they will have secured themselves their third straight Liberty District title and the first seed in the playoffs.
4. POTOMAC 8-0
Previous: 5
Next Up: vs. Hylton
Potomac had a bit of slip-up against Forest Park in their 41-27 win, but they still move up and take our number four spot. Potomac is still undefeated and have proven to be the hands down favorite to win the Northwest Region. Yet with rival Hylton on the docket this week, the Panthers need to look out for the upset.
5. BATTLEFIELD 7-1
Previous: 7
Next Up: vs. Culpeper
With Battlefield's incredible come from behind victory, they move into the top-5 of the Power Poll. Battlefield's lone blemish was to Potomac, and they proved they were for real in their victory over then-#6 Fauquier. The Bobcats are now staring down a 9-1 season and the top spot in the Division 6 playoffs.
6. CHANTILLY 7-2
Previous: 2
Next Up: at #9 Edison
The Chargers tumble all the way down to the number six spot after they were abruptly upset by Centreville on Monday. Chantilly resembled nothing of their former selves, and that has to be a major concern at this point in the year. This Friday's game at Edison will gauge just where Chantilly is at this point.
7. PARK VIEW 8-0
Previous: 8
Next Up: vs. Heritage
As is the case every week, the Park View offense lit up the scoreboard, and Monday was no different. They took care of Dominion 49-21 as CJ Leizear broke some of his own records by tossing for 447 yards and six touchdowns. The Patriots have no time to rest however as they have a date with upset-minded Heritage this Friday.
8. BROAD RUN 8-0
Previous: 9
Next Up: at Freedom- South Riding
Broad Run again took care of business by knocking out Potomac Falls, who have shown the last several weeks they are no slouches. The Spartans, who remain undefeated, are on a direct collision course with Park View as they look to stake their claim as Dulles District champions.
9. EDISON 8-1
Previous: 10
Next Up: vs. #6 Chantilly
Despite playing in the rain on Friday, the Eagles' offense did not stall out for one second as they dropped 39 points on Washington-Lee. The Eagles have a huge match-up this week with #6 Chantilly, and luckily for head coach Vaughn Lewis, his team will get a full week to prepare for the Chargers. Don't be surprised to see Edison in the win column after this game.
10. FAUQUIER 7-1
Previous: 6
Next Up: at Osbourn Park
Just like Chantilly, Fauquier drops significantly after their loss on Monday. After losing a 20 point lead in the second-half to Battlefield, we're waiting to see how Fauquier responds. How well Fauquier performs against their bitter--and now angry-- rival Liberty should tell us whether or not Fauquier is playoff-ready. The Falcons have to take care of business this week against Osbourn Park before they start to focus on the Bird Bowl...
WEST SPRINGFIELD 7-2: West Springfield got a huge win over Lake Braddock last Friday to pretty much cement their place as Patriot District champs.
HERITAGE 6-2: Heritage is a team that has evolved from an unknown to a Dulles District big boy.
CENTREVILLE 6-3: The Wildcats are coming together at the time of the year, and with the star power Centreville is able to put out, that is a bad sign for the rest of the region.
MADISON 8-1: Madison continues to slip in the Power Poll after they struggled in their win over McLean this past Monday.
LAKE BRADDOCK 7-2: Despite losing to West Springfield over the weekend, the Bruins can still be co-district champs and lock up a high seed with a win over Hayfield.
