Gameday Power Poll: Week 6

STERLING, VA - Week 6 is in the books, and that's another week that the area powers have proven themselves. The top 5 again remain steady as they all passed their respective tests, but it's the bottom half that continues to see the most movement. We have one newcomer to the poll and plenty of movers. In the next three weeks, we'll really get a complete and final look at where everyone stacks up, but until then we can only speculate! So sit back and enjoy this round of the Gameday Power Poll.
1. WESTFIELD 6-0
Previous Week: 1
Next Up: vs. Fairfax
Westfield retains their top spot in the poll after a convincing 31-0 win over Woodson. Woodson came into last week's game 4-1 but were easily silenced by Westfield's winning recipe of great defense and a balanced offense. Right now, there is no team in the area on the same level as the Bulldogs.
2. CHANTILLY 5-1
Previous Week: 3
Next Up: vs. Robinson
Chantilly gets back into the two spot after their 35-23 victory over resurgent Oakton. With the Chargers developing a more potent passing attack, and their dynamic running game still leading the way, this team is still a very legitimate threat to overthrow Westfield.
3. SHERANDO 6-0
Previous Week: 2
Next Up: vs. Skyline
Sherando drops one spot thanks in part to Chantilly's win over Oakton. The Warriors continue to roll however, as is evidenced by their dominating 49-6 district win over Central. With Skyline up next, expect this squad to continue to coast.
4. STONE BRIDGE 5-1
Previous Week: 4
Next Up: at Langley
The Bulldogs stay put at the fourth spot after their 54-12 win against South Lakes. With Stone Bridge still stuck in the softer spot of their district schedule, we'll have to wait awhile before we entertain thoughts of moving Stone Bridge up in the Power Poll.
5. WEST SPRINGFIELD 5-1
Previous Week: 5
Next Up: at South County
The Spartans picked up a monster win over previously undefeated West Potomac 38-14. There isn't a team with more quality wins than West Springfield as they've beaten Edison, Robinson, and now West Potomac. Need anymore proof the Spartans are for real?
6. POTOMAC 5-0
Previous Week: 8
Next Up: vs. Woodbridge
Potomac reeled in yet another big win last week when they soundly beat defending state champion Osbourn 39-14. So far, this is the only team in Prince William County that established themselves as a force. Look for them to continue to rack up wins until another team steps up to challenge the Panthers.
7. PARK VIEW 5-0
Previous Week: 6
Next Up: at Potomac Falls
With Potomac playing stellar football, Park View moves down one spot. Yet with Briar Woods, Heritage, and Broad Run on the horizon, this team gets the perfect opportunity to prove their worth.
8. FAUQUIER 5-0
Previous Week: 7
Next Up: at Osbourn
Fauquier again proved to people they are for real as they came up with a 33-14 win over Loudoun Valley. Now with Osbourn, Stonewall Jackson, and Battlefield on tap for the Falcons, we get to see whether this team is in fact a serious Northwest Region title contender.
9. MADISON 6-0
Previous Week: 9
Next Up: vs. Woodson
The Warhawks remain undefeated after they held off Langley by a score of 17-10. Madison now enters a critical stretch of games where they square off against Woodson and then Stone Bridge. How this squad performs in the next few weeks will say a lot about them.
10. BROAD RUN 5-0
Previous Week: NR
Next Up: at Dominion
Broad Run gets back into the Power Poll after they pulled out a tough 17-10 win over Heritage. Now with both Briar Woods and Heritage in their rearview mirror, the Spartans have their sights set on Park View and an undefeated regular season.
ALSO RECEIVING VOTES:
EDISON 5-1: The Eagles last Friday smothered rival Yorktown 36-0. It's clear Edison is back to their dominating ways (think Stone Bridge) as they seem to now be in line to successfully defend their Division 5 Northern Region title.
BATTLEFIELD 4-1: The Bobcats extended their winning streak to four after they successfully beat Osbourn Park. Battlefield gets a good test next week when they encounter another team that is on a roll when they travel out to play Liberty.
ROBINSON 4-2: After we dropped Robinson entirely from the Power Poll, they came back and made us look foolish after they dumped Centreville 14-7.
LIBERTY 3-2: Don't look now, but Liberty is again back on the winning track after they shut-out Stonewall Jackson 26-0.
BRIAR WOODS 4-1: Briar Woods responded nicely after their loss to #10 Broad Run when they toppled Dominion 35-14. Park View and Heritage loom large for this team in the coming weeks.
