Gameday Notebook: Week 6 (Loudoun)

Gameday Rewind...
Dulles District play began all around the county this past Friday with some exciting games on the docket. Some expected...and some not. Park View began Dulles play at Loudoun County, and the Raiders were not impressed with the Patriot hype, at least in the 1st half, as they came out and continued to exploit the defensive middle line for big gains, and capitalized on some Patriot miscues, and only trailed 27-20 at halftime. But it was all Park View in the 2nd stanza, as they outscored the Raiders 24-6, to notch the 51-26 victory. Stone Bridge played their 2nd District game of the season, with predictable results, with a 38-0 rout over the McLean Highlanders, to go 2-0 in the Liberty. Sr. Jeron Gouveia scored 3 times...twice via Patrick Thompson airmails, and once on a 3 yard run, to seal the deal for the Bulldogs. Ryan Moody and Kareem Alexander would also get into the endzone, and Ronnie Shaban would add a 42 yard field goal.

The "Battle Of Ashburn..."In this highly touted, and widely debated, "Battle," the Broad Run Spartans traveled to Briar Woods to play a Falcons team that has been making some noise of late, that they too should be considered as Dulles District contenders. In this first ever varsity meeting between the 2 football programs, the game did not disappoint those in attendance, as both teams came out hard and fast. The Spartans scored first, on a Kenny McAdow 7 yard run in the 1st quarter. But The Falcons would enjoy the halftime lead, as QB Alex Munro would hit Tim King on a 12 yard pass, and add the 2 point conversion run by J.T. Bailey, and the Falcons would be up at intermission, 8-7. The lead would change 3 times in the 3rd quarter, with Broad Run mastering the go ahead touchdown on a 3 yard run by Eric Madigan. The defenses would clamp down in the 4th quarter, and the game would end with the 21-15 Spartan victory.

What The Doctor Ordered...
The Dominion Titans also played a 1st time Dulles District foe, as they traveled to South Riding to play the Freedom Eagles. In spite of some injuries on the defense, It was all Titans in this contest, as freshman phenom Deandre Reaves rushed for 182 yards on 18 carries and 2 touchdowns. Reaves also scored on a 82 yard kickoff return for his 3rd score of the night. Sr. Todd Lancaster also went over the 100 mark (10-105), and the air attack would make an appearance, as QB Geoff McCowat connected with Henry Lobo twice on TD tosses of 21 and 51 yards. Dominion 35 - Freedom 7.
