Raider Girls Tennis defeats Titans 6-3

On Monday, April 2 the LCHS Girls Tennis Team rallied to beat DHS 6-3. With only 6 players present for the match and only three of them starters, the LCHS girls had their work cut out. Megan Hurley and Kerry Sarver moved up 2 spots to start out the line up at the number 1 and 2 spot. Helen gall moved up 3 spots to secure the number 3 position. Our next three players (non-starters) moved up to fill the bottom 3 spots. Emi Leonard played the #4 position, Rachel Steinhice played #5 and Colleen McGrew played #6.

To start off our match, Megan Hurley and Kerry Sarver made short work of their opponents and put County up 2-0. Unfortunately, we could not breathe easy for long. Helen Gall and Emi Leonard played a hard fought match, but came up short tying things up 2-2. The last 2 singles matches would determine our outlook for doubles and the match. Playing in their first singles match, Rachel Steinhice and Colleen McGrew dismantled their opponents like seasoned veterans. Their steady play gave County a 4-2 lead going into doubles. With one win to go for the match, our goal was in site. Our highlight doubles match came from court three with the doubles duo of Steinhice and McGrew. After winning their first ever singles match, they teamed up for the first time and quickly defeated their opponents in stunning fashion. Their win gave County our team win and secured our undefeated streak in District play. Our last win came from the duo of Hurley and Sarver at #1 doubles. Our #2 doubles duo of Gall and Leonard was narrowly defeated by two of their starters.

One last notable comes from our diamond in the rough, Kerry Sarver. With her singles win she remains undefeated with a 6-0 record. She is 1-0 at the #2 position and 5-0 at the #4 position.
