#10 Notre Dame, #1 Highland battle to 2-2 draw
The #10 Notre Dame Dragons and #1 ranked Highland battled to a 2-2 draw in VISSA action. Highland came into the game against Notre Dame the defending state champion and undefeated on the season; allowing only 1 goal on the season.
Highland got on the board first when Chelsea Patry converted her penalty kick to put Highland up 1-0. Highland went into the half 2-0 after Callan Elswick put away a failed clearance by the Notre Dame defense. The game was a tail of two halves for the defending champions as the Dragons came out firing. Putting Highland under constant pressure the Dragons were able to get many scoring opportunities. The Dragons cut the lead to 2-1 when freshmen star Amber Cook scored off of an attempted cross. With the score 2-1 the Dragons continued to pressure the defense of highland and with 8 minutes left in the half Cook evened the match after she scored off of her free kick from about 22 yards out. With the score even at 2-2 the Dragons continued to pressure and not settle for a tie. Though they had many opportunites the game finished a 2-2 draw.
The Dragons improve to 6-0-1 on the season and return to action on Friday as they travel to Richmond to take on St. Catherines.
