Pride Fall To Millbrook 7-5 In Softball

(Leesburg, VA) - The Heritage varsity softball team lost a long hard fought battle to Millbrook on Tuesday 7-5. Millbrook jumped out and scored three runs in the first inning, but Heritage answered back with a run by Alexis Groves. Heritage came alive in the bottom of the sixth and batted through the line up to scored six runs.

Millbrook answered back with two more runs, leaving the game tied and pushed it into extra innings. After 9 innings Millbrook broke the tie with two runs in the top of the ninth to win the game. Calleigh Fangmyer, a Pride freshmen pitcher, did an excellent job pitching all 9 innings with five strikeouts and two walks; Lauren Beecher had a good night with one run and two hits.

Whitney Malone and Alexis Groves both had two walks, one hit and one run. Erin Brosnan, Lauren Mullen, Alexa Fox, and Alexis Groves each had an RBI. Malone fielded many hard hits at shortstop and third base totaling seven outs.
