Knights Will Rely on Youth to Remain Competitive

Beginning their season with an all new lineup, the Kellam Knights baseball team is conditioning themselves for hard work. Seventh season Kellam varsity baseball coach, St. Clair Jones feels, "This season is different then all others. We will be very young in some key positions."
Although the team has no returning starters, Jones has senior players with high expectations. The five returning seniors for the 2007 season are Mike Belkov, JamisonWalker, Steven Browning, Kyle Pfiefer, and Mario Rosales. The players and coach are hopeful to play up to the potential of last year's athletes. "We seniors will just have to really step it up this year", explained senior pitcher, Rosales.
Even with the challenges of a building year, Jones feels confident that the team can reach his goal of returning to the regional tournament. Steven Browning, senior outfielder concurs. "We just need to stay focused and stay team oriented."
