UVA Lands Green, Highlights Recruiting News....

(Sterling, Virginia) - With the national signing day about a week away, several of our local football stars have received the good news they were hoping for, a college scholarship. The recruiting process can be a stressful time for both coaches and the families of the players themselves. However, several local players can now rest easy as their near future has been decided with regard to where they will continue their playing careers.
Green Finds A Home At UVA:
Oakton receiver Jared Green has landed with an offer to play college football at the University of Virginia. Green, a 6'3 190lb receiver, will play the same position for the Cavaliers. Green's explosiveness and speed was a major reason the Cavaliers chose to offer him. Green ran a 4.37 40 yard dash for scouts at a Nike Combine last summer and he became a true deep threat target this past fall for Oakton's offense, compiling 4 touchdown catches.
What Can Brown Do For You?
The Demon Deacons of Wake Forest will find out soon as they have offered Stone Bridge tailback Devon "Ylou" Brown a full scholarship to play football at Wake Forest next fall. Brown will most likely be redshirted as most Wake Forest freshmen are, but should become a quality collegiate player for last year's ACC Champion. Brown rushed for an area high 29 touchdowns in his senior season and helped Stone Bridge finish atop the Liberty district for the second consecutive year. Brown should see time on the next level at tailback and special teams.
Nuss Headed to South Bend:
One of the earliest verbal commitments this past summer came from Stone Bridge senior offensive lineman Andrew Nuss, who decided that he wanted to play for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Nuss hasn't waivered on that verbal commitment, and with his 6'5 285lb frame, should have a chance to compete for time right away. Nuss was a two time All Gameday selection and voted to the All Region team two years in a row. His presence on the offensive and defensive lines helped Stone Bridge to two regional title appearances in two years and an appearance in the 2005 state championship game.
Glenn Off To Rhode Island:
Stone Bridge quarterback Terence Glenn has decided on the University of Rhode Island as his play ground for the next 4 years. Glenn will fit perfectly into the Rhode Island offensive scheme, which runs the option and features a mobile quarterback. All Glenn did in his time at Stone Bridge was win, compiling a 12-2 record as a starter in 2005 and a 11-1 record as a senior in 2006. He leaves Stone Bridge as the only Bulldog quarterback to lead the school to the state championship game.
Conroy Headed To Ivy League:
Loudoun Valley's Patrick Conroy followed former teammate Steven Sheehan into the Ivy League by accepting a scholarship to Brown University. Conroy, was a two time All Gameday selection and led the Vikings to a combined record of 15-6 in his two seasons as a starter. Conroy will most likely see time on the offensive line for Brown.
