Park View Places 11 On District's First Team
Sterling, VA - The Dulles District champion Park View football team had 11 players selected as first-team all-district selections, it was announced this week.
Patriots senior tailback Deric Dudinski and Potomac Falls senior defensive lineman Blaise Ruffin were named the district's offensive and defensive players of the year, respectively, and Park View's Andy Hill and Broad Run's Mike Burnett were selected as co-coaches of the year by their peers.
Hill has led the Patriots to back-to-back postseason appearances in his first two seasons at the Sterling school, winning nine of 10 regular season games this fall and clinching the second seed in the Group AA Division 4 Region II playoffs this week. Burnett, meanwhile, has turned around the Spartans' program, leading Broad Run to a 5-5 record and to within a game of gaining a share of the district title a year after winning just one game.
Dudinski has run for 2,069 yards and 25 touchdowns entering Saturday's regional semifinal against Louisa County (10-0 overall) at Heritage. This fall, he became the school's all-time leading rusher, Northern Virginia's second all-time leading rusher and he is closing in on Tony Conway's single-season school record of 2,329 yards, set when the Patriots won their lone state championship in 1988.
Dudinski was joined on the first-team offense by: Park View senior center Cody Heiser, junior guard Robbie Duncan, senior tackle James Nolan, Loudoun County senior guard Robbie Greer, Dominion senior tight end Cam Everett, Broad Run senior wide out Adrian Mines and senior running back/kick returner Clayton Abel and Freedom senior running back Roy Hill.
Dudinski was also named as a first-team selection as a defensive back, while Ruffing was named a first-team pick as both a defensive lineman and offensive tackle. Park View senior Amechi Anyaugo and Potomac Falls senior Chris Frank were also selected on both sides of the ball, Anayungo as a wide out and linebacker and Frank as a kick specialist and defensive back.
Also named to the defensive first-team were: Broad Run senior defensive end Matt Smith, Potomac Falls senior defensive end, Park View junior defensive end Garrett Smith, senior defensive lineman Corbin Barnes, senior linebacker Anthony Damico, senior defensive back Justin Denekas, Dominion senior defensive lineman Brandon MacLean, Heritage senior linebacker Zak Burkhard and senior defensive back Chris Brent and Loudoun County senior linebacker John Jameson.
