Sherando Over Millbrook 14-7 To Remain Perfect

The Sherando Warriors held off the fiery Millbrook Pioneers to give them a perfect 10-0 regular season record. There was a lot on the line for Friday's game between Sherando and Millbrook. With senior night, playoff implications on the line and a traditional school rivalry this was looking to be an emotional game. Millbrook came into this game needing a win to gain a playoff spot. From the moment the Pioneers took the field there football team play inspired and aggressive football. The first half was a slugfest with both teams going into halftime scoreless. Millbrook got on the scoreboard first on a very solid drive capping it off with a JJ Casagranda four yard TD run. At the start of the 4th quarter the score was Millbrook 7 and Sherando 0. Sophomore Quarterback Ross Metheny then took the game into his own hands. Metheny marched the Warriors down the field and found TE Brian Barlow on a 15 yard TD pass. After a missed extra point the score was 7-6 Millbrook. The Sherando defense was then asked to get a stop and make a big play and that is just what happened. Junior Derek Crosen leaped high into the air to make a crucial interception which gave the Warriors the ball back close to mid field. After Metheny got the Warriors to the 20 yard line the Warriors decided to run behind there huge offensive line. Markeith Briscoe ran in from 4 yards out to give Sherando a 12-7 lead. Sherando capped off this drive with a two point conversion on a Metheny to Joel Witt reception. Miilbrook made one last charge but came up short after safety Josh Root intercepted the ball for the Warriors.

Millbrook ended the season with a 5-5 record. The Pioneers are a young football team with a lot of talent returning next season.

Sherando moves to 10-0 and has home field advantage throughout the playoffs if they can keep winning. There first round opponent looks to be Louisa County which will be a rematch of last season's thriller.
