Meet The Playmaker-Keyser's Nick Wihiteman

Meet the Playmaker- Nick Whiteman

Keyser's Nick Whiteman is a soft spoken young man who lets his play on the football field do his talking. Whiteman is a senior leader for the Golden Tornado football team.

Gameday: What positions do you play for the Keyser football team?
Nick Whiteman: I play defensive end and tight end!

GD: Which position is your favorite?
NW: I would have to say defensive end. I like the challenge of trying to stop the opponent's offense. Our defensive unit plays with a lot of pride and emotion and that gets me fired up.

GD: Keyser is having a great season in football. What was the team goal before the season started?
NW: We knew he had a talented football team. Our goal was to work hard in the off-season and to develop a family atmosphere around our football team.

GD: Speaking of off-season conditioning! What do you do as a player to prepare yourself for the season?
NW: I am constantly weight lifting. I enjoy lifting weights just as much as I enjoy playing football. My strength has really improved since my freshman year and that has really helped me improve as a player.

GD: When did you start playing football?
NW: I come from a football family. My dad introduced me to football and I played my first game in the 3rd grade.

GD: Name a player on your team that has impressed you in terms of dedication and commitment to the team?
NW: Justin Berg! No matter what the situation is you can count on Justin to make a play on the football field. He is a team player!

GD: What is it like playing for Coach Biser?
NW: I really enjoy playing for Coach Biser. He knows how to keep our entire team focused. He can be very intense at times but you know he is trying to bring out the best in each of us.

GD: What game has been your favorite during your high school career?
NW: Definitely this year's game against Allegany! They had a 20 consecutive game winning streak that we ended. I will never forget that game!

GD: What are your plans after high school?
NW: I would love to play football in college and major in education.

GD: When the season is over and you graduate from Keyser, what will you miss the most about your high school football days?
NW: I will miss the brotherhood amongst our team. Playing football has been a great experience for me at Keyser.
