Chantilly QB Worek To Miss Saturday's Semifinal
Sterling, VA - Still feeling the effects of a concussion that forced him from Chantilly's 26-21 victory over Westfield in last Saturday's Group AAA Division Northern Region championship game, Chargers senior quarterback Nate Worek will not be available for this weekend's state semifinal game against Central Region champion Varina.
Worek, who lay motionless on the field at Chantilly for 20 minutes before being airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital, passed all of his medical tests over the weekend, but is still feeling the effects this week and has been ruled out of the game, according to a family member.
Worek was at practice on Monday as the Chargers (9-3 overall) began preparations for their first state playoff game since 1996, but has been out of school for much of the week as he continues to recover. The 6-foot-2-inch, 205-pound senior has completed 74-of-145 passes for 968 yards, 13 touchdowns and six interceptions and also run for 426 yards and six touchdowns this season.
