Titans Crash Heritage's Homecoming, Win 14-7

(Leesburg, VA) - Homecoming games are special to the home team, at least they are supposed to be. The Dominion Titans didn't get that memo as they crashed Heritage's homecoming on Saturday by beating the Pride 14-7 on their home turf. Last year's Co-District Champion couldn't muster much offense and the Titans capitalized on two turnovers deep in Heritage territory to pull out the win.

Dominion junior quarterback Britton Miller did a fantastic job of filling in for starter Craig Carlson, who is out for the year with a broken leg. Miller led the Titans in rushing with 90 yards on 23 carries. Titan running back Edris Amin did the damage on the scoreboard, scoring both of Dominion's touchdowns (1yd & 3yd runs). Amin finished with 20 yards on 9 carries.

The Pride got on the scoreboard late in the 4th quarter via a 39 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kyle Nelson to wide receiver Bobby Edmonds. It was too little too late for Heritage though as the Titans walked off the field victorious. Edmonds finished with 57 yards receiving and the Heritage offense was held to -3 yards rushing on the day. Dominion's defense was suffocating all day long, with senior Brandon McLean registering 4 of Dominion's 6 sacks on the day.

In the loss, Heritage's Jonathan Linbeck and Nick Cadwell both played well on defense. Linbeck had 17 tackles (9 assists 8 solo) and Cadwell had 13 tackles (9 solo and 4 assists). The Pride played without standout linebacker Zak Burkhard, who is out for the year with a torn ACL. His presence was missed today on the Pride defense.

With the win, Dominion improved to 4-4 and is on pace to finish with their best record in school history. Heritage dropped to 3-5 and must now rally the troops to finish no less than 5-5 this year.
