Ryan Rettberg is storming the Golf Scene

Warren County's Ryan Rettberg Is Storming The Area Golf Scene
Warren County freshman Ryan Rettberg has stormed onto the high school golf scene with his play on the course and the consistency of his scoring. At fourteen years old Ryan's golf career is just beginning but his level of play has many people in northern Virginia taking notice.
Ryan Rettberg's passion for golf began two summers ago when he joined a friend and his father for an afternoon of golf at the Front Royal Country Club. After a few good shots and some competition between friends, Ryan's enthusiasm for golf had begun. During Christmas of 2005 Ryan received his first set of golf club and ever since he has used those clubs to begin to make a name for himself on the local golf scene.
As Ryan's skill level increased he decided to challenge his skills at various golf courses and tournaments. The talented freshman signed up for the Titlest Junior Tour which plays five tournaments around the state of Virginia. After winning the first tournament he ever entered Ryan set his sights on competiting against golfers on a nationwide basis. At the age of twelve Ryan was playing some of the nicest courses in Florida, Texas, Maryland and Pennsylvania. "Playing in those tournaments against the top players in the nation was a great learning experience and it also was a big confidence booster," added Rettberg. Playing against top competition has seemed to pay off. During Ryan's freshman season he has been a consistant scorer and has had some remarkable performances. Ryan placed 2nd in the Sleepy Hollow Invitational; he finished 5th out of one hundred twenty players at the Curly Licklider Invitational and recently placed 3rd at the district tournament which qualified him for the regional golf tournament.
Ryan's golf game has impressed many golfers including his coach, Richard Runyon. "The words freshman and regionals do not get said together very often. His success this season is a tribute to his work ethic and skill level." At first glance Ryan resembles a freshman but when he puts that club in his hand his skill level and maturity takes over. "The length off the tee and his skill level at such a young age is phenomenal," says Coach Runyon. Ryan has taken his success in stride and is quick to point out that he has had a lot of help in becoming a better golfer. "Coach Runyon has helped me on the range with my mechanics and confidance. My individual coach, Mr. Paulson, has really improved my swing and the mental aspect of golf," adds Rettberg.
I think that it is safe to say that Warren County's Ryan Rettberg has the chance to become one of the best high school golfers in our area. With Ryan's work ethic and his skill level expect Rettberg to contend for a state title for the next four years.
