Panthers Show Offensive Power in 33-6 Victory

After an impressive win over district rival Broad Run, Potomac Falls looked to go to 2-0 in the district over the Loudoun County Raiders. The Raiders came into the game with an 0-6 record, but had shown signs of improvement over the past couple weeks, even though they lost last week to Dominion 21-7.

Loudoun County struck first in this match-up when Jon Jameson lumbered in for a 2 yard touchdown run half way through the first quarter, but the Raiders would not see the end zone the rest of the game. The Panthers came right back five minutes later when Greg Woodlief found John Gunning for a 29 yard touchdown pass to give Potomac Falls the lead 7-6. The Panthers then added to their lead in the second quarter when Woodlief ran in for a 4 yard touchdown to give the Panthers a 14-6 at halftime.

In the second half, the Panthers added a continuous string of touchdowns, scoring an additional 19 points in the second half. Greg Woodlief added another touchdown pass, this time a 49 yard pass to Chris Frank during the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter, Potomac Falls added two touchdowns within a span of two minutes, both scored by Mustafa Abugideiri. The first touchdown was from 14 yards and a minute later he scored again from 38 yards. With a couple of missed extra points, the final score ended up being Potomac Falls 33 and Loudoun County 6.

With the win Potomac Falls improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the district. With the loss Loudoun County fell to 0-7 and overall and 0-2 in the district. Next week Potomac Falls travels to co-District leader Park View next Friday and Loudoun County will travel to Broad Run.
