Defense, Woodlief lead Panthers past Spartans
(Potomac Falls, Virginia) - The Potomac Falls Panthers started off on the right foot in District play on Friday night with a huge win over Broad Run 23-14. The Panthers rush defense only allowed 17 yards rushing in the contest and Mustafa Abugideiri added a 71 yard touchdown run at the start of the second half to give Potomac Falls a 17-7 advantage early in the 3rd Quarter. Spartan Clayton Abel returned the kickoff 90 yards for his second touchdown of the night for Broad Run to bring the score to 17-14.
Potomac Falls quarterback Greg Woodlief put the game away with a 10 yard touchdown throw to tight end Steve Hancock and the Panthers pulled out the 23-14 win over the Spartans. Broad Run and Potomac Falls played each other tough in Friday's game and for the Spartans, it was a frustrating night as they had several big plays called back by penalties.
The Potomac Falls defense and offense put together a solid all around performance to help the Panthers improve to 4-2 on the season. In the loss, the Spartans fell to 2-4.
