Oakton rides Kedrock to 14-7 win over Robinson

This week's TCC Sports Game of the Week featured two household names from the Concorde District in the Robinson Rams and the Oakton Cougars. The Cougars were coming off an extremely tough loss against Westfield 21-17 the previous week and Robinson came in to the game with a 5-1 overall mark, but still held an undefeated record in the Concorde District.

The game proved to be a defensive struggle as the first score did not come until late in the second quarter when Orlando Bryant broke free down the sideline and gave Oakton a 6-0 lead after a missed extra point. That lead would hold up until Robinson scored on their first possession in the second half. The Rams would take the lead with the extra point, 7-6. That lead would hold up for the Rams until Oakton's Jonathan Kedrock broke through the line for a 2 yard touchdown that would give the Cougars the lead for good 14-7. Kedrock carried the ball 7 straight times in the Cougars' first drive of the 4th quarter. Kedrock's tough running helped Oakton chew time off the clock and take the lead for good as they went ahead 14-7 after a Jared Green catch in the end-zone for the 2-point conversion.

The biggest play of the game happened on the next drive when Stephen Handel-Dowd jumped on a Robinson fumble in the backfield. The Cougars drove the ball down inside the Rams 20 yard line and Kedrock took it to the Ram 1 yard line before the clock would wind down to zero.

The Line-X Tough Guy of the Game Award was presented to the entire Oakton Cougar offensive line. The Perfect Performance Player of the Game was Oakton's Jonathan Kedrock, who scored the game winning 2 yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

After losing a tough game last week, the Cougars return the favor in upset fashion over the Rams by the final score of 14-7. With the win, Oakton improved to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the Concorde District. With the loss, Robinson fell to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the District. If Oakton continues to win, they will most likely find themselves in the Division 6 playoffs defending their state championship from a year ago.
