Expectations are high for Musselman Volleyball

Why are expectations high for the Musselman Applemen Girls Volleyball team this season? After two straight appearances in the state tournament and the return of 6 all area performers from last season, expect the Lady Appleman Volleyball team to be a very difficult team to beat this year! Coach Shawn Martz and his staff are very excited about the 2006 Volleyball season.
Musselman will be a very experienced team this season with great senior leadership! Alyse Custer, Megan Holmes and Danielle Felicio return for there senior season and have there sights set on continuing the success they have had recently. Senior libero Danielle Felicio feels that there off-season conditioning program titled, "Jump Attack" has really helped their team both physically and mentally. The Jump Attack program is a workout program that focuses on explosive movements, plyometrics and some weight training. This program has really brought our team together says Felicio.
Senior outside hitters Alyce Custer and Megan Holmes both believe that the key to there seasons success is for the team to stay positive and together as one unit. Both Custer and Holmes stated that the 2006 team goal was to be better than last year's team! With the talent on the Musselman Volleyball team don't be surprised if they accomplish there goal!
Coach Martz is excited about the talent of his entire team this season but when asked to reflect on Custer, Holmes and Felicio's ability he stated, "These 3 young ladies have been the backbone of our program the past 3 years and in large part responsible for the emergence of our program."
Alyse Custer and Megan Holmes have been very productive at the net for the Appleman in recent years. Coach Martz believes strongly in the two players ability, "In my opinion there is not a better pair of left side hitters in the state, they both possess the ability to constantly dominate a match. "
Every successful team has a leader, the Appleman have Danielle Felicio. "Danielle is unquestionably one of the best libero's in the state. She is our leader on and off the court." added Martz.
Custer, Holmes and Felicio has not only gained the local area teams attention with there play but colleges have taken notice as well. Numerous Division II colleges have been in contact with Coach Martz about the trio's play.
Coach Martz is quick to point out that volleyball is a team game and that Musselman also has some other very capable players on there team. Katie Keys, Stephanie Wood and Chelsea Wheaton also return this season after being selected as all area players last season.
One thing is certain this season in Inwood, West Virginia! The Musselman Applemen Girls Volleyball Team will be loaded with talent and the entire Applemen Volleyball program displays a great deal of pride and they are highly motivated! As the Jump Attack tee shirts say "The sky is limit."
