Dorsey's 3TD's lead Handley Over Central 23-7
(Winchester, VA) - Trying to end a two game losing streak against the Handley Judges is not easy. Especially when Handley has a player like J.J. Dorsey to deal with. Dorsey and the Judges came into the contest needing to bounce back after a tough loss to Sherando last week.
The first 12 minutes of the game would remain scoreless for both teams but the action got started quickly in the 2nd quarter. The first score of the game came in the form of a field goal by Mike Sandy of Handley to bring the score to 3-0. However, Central would respond to the Judges' field goal with a 2-yard touchdown run by Danny Carlson with 52 seconds left in the half. A converted extra point made the halftime score 7-3.
J.J. Dorsey and the rest of the Handley Judges opened the second half with the ball, and it didn't take long for one of the area's most explosive athletes to get the Judges on the board. Dorsey drove the Judges down the field and scored on a 1-yard keeper to give Handley a 10-7 lead with 8:31 left in the quarter. The Handley defense kept Central from doing much in the 3rd quarter, and Dorsey provided his team with a big lift, dashing 64 yards to another touchdown with less than a minute to go in the 3rd quarter. The Judges failed to convert the extra point and the 4th quarter began with the score at 16-7 in Handley's favor.
Dorsey added another touchdown run in the 4th quarter after a turnover and the Judges coasted to the win 23-7. Dorsey's performance was spectacular today for the Judges. In the win, Dorsey broke the single game rushing record with 282 yards on the ground. He scored the Judges 3 touchdowns and continued his assault on opposing defenses in the Northwestern District.
With the win, Handley improved their record to 4-2 and will next face the Liberty Eagles at Liberty High School. Central will face off against the top ranked Sherando Warriors next week.
