Cox Falcons Post First Win Over Green Run
The Cox Falcons have been very consistent over the past four years, posting a record of 20-20. This season, Coach Steve Alosso said during a pre-season interview, "I think we will be better than 5-5 this year" although to listen to the team, they were expecting much more from themselves than that. Talk around Falcon territory was that this team with it's new Offensive game plan and Coordinator calling the plays along with some new talent, would shock the Beach District and prevail in arguably one of the toughest districts in Virginia. We were expecting a playoff run, however the only shock we got was that going into last Friday's game, they were winless. Playing against a team that has won only 2 games in the past 5 years area experts called Green Run for this one, however thankfully for Cox fans, they were wrong.
Cox finally prevailed with some improved defensive play, great runs by speedy Zeke Novak to put them into good field position for their two big strong Fullbacks, Chris Keller and King Saunders to put points on the board. Cox has been a surprise this season, but not for the reasons we expected. There is alot of talent on the team and they were fired up during the pre-season. In their defense, they faced the toughest teams in the District to start the season and although playoffs are out of the question, they still have some very good teams to face, but they could very well win out and end up 6-4, if they can work out the problems with coordination and play execution that have plagued them and some confusion on the sidelines.
