Hedgesville Lindsay Hadley Plays Above The Net

Let's rewind and go back to the summer of 2003! Lindsay Hadley was a shy 8th grade girl who did not like to try new things out of her comfort zone. You can imagine the response Lindsay gave to her parents when she found out that her mother had signed her up for Hedgesville's Volleyball Camp. Lindsay had never played volleyball and did not know anyone else that would be attending Coach Susan Davis's Volleyball Camp. Lindsay was very reluctant to go but decided to do so because of her parents interest in volleyball and wanting to please her parents. At the end of day one Mrs. Hadley arrived to pick up her daughter and found a big smile on Lindsay's face and a new found love for the sport of volleyball.
Ever since that first day of camp Lindsay Hadley has been dominating the volleyball courts around the Gameday Magazine area. Lindsay is a junior at Hedgesville High where she has been a starter on the volleyball team for three years. The awards and honors that Lindsay has received entering her junior season are amazing. Lindsay was an AVL and CVAL All Conference First Team selection; she received two local newspapers All-Area First Team selections as well as being named West Virginia AAA First Team All-State in 2005. Lindsay possesses a tremendous vertical jump to go with a powerful left hand that has proved to be very effective in the past. In 2005 as a sophomore Lindsay totaled 416 kills for the season which is an average of 3.85 kills per game. Combine that power with her tremendous fundamental game and you have a complete volleyball player. There is no doubt that Lindsay's strength is her ability to drive the ball straight down to the floor but she has also been very effective in other areas of her game. Lindsay is a very good server which is evident by her 93% service percentage and her 77 aces last season. On the defensive end she has also proven to be dominant with her 1.50 blocks a game average as well as her 3.50 digs per game average.
The honors and stats give you a perspective on how important Lindsay is to her team at Hedgesville, but in speaking with Coach Lori Zick she feels her best quality is her attitude. "Lindsay is a sweet kid with a hard working attitude. She loves the game of volleyball and works hard every day to improve her skills. Lindsay motivates those around her with her work ethic and that alone is beneficial to the team as a whole."
When talking to Lindsay it is very evident that she is a very humble person who is really appreciative of the people who have helped become the special person she is. Lindsay is very thankful for the teammates she has played with especially Megan Grant and Virginia Rogus. "My freshman year Megan really pushed me to be a better player and Virginia has been my setter for three years. Virginia and I have great chemistry on the court and I can always count on her to be there for me." Stated Hadley. All great players have someone who has instilled confidence in them and Lindsay has that in her Coach Lori Zick. "Coach Zick was the first person to believe in my potential in terms of volleyball. She really motivates me and brings out the best in me."
Lindsay has high hopes for the Eagle Volleyball team in 2006. She hopes to return to states again and is looking forward for the regular season especially for the games against rivals Musselman and Martinsburg. Lindsay is also a member of the Tri-State FCA Malachi under 17 select volleyball team. This club team allows Lindsay to compete against top notch players around the nation and receive some exposure in terms of recruiting for college. The sky is the limit for Lindsay Hadley and Gameday Magazine will be there to cover her career.
Hadley has displayed the ability to dominate the game of volleyball.
