Whaley and Kresinske Put Salem on Top

Salem sits all alone at the top of the Beach District after a game we billed "Battle at the Beach" ended up being another lopsided dominating performance by the Salen Sundevils. Kevin Whaley rushed for 160 yards, scoring 4 touchdowns, putting him over 600 yards this season and 11 touchdowns. Rich Kresinske continued his outstanding play, completing 11 of 15 for 145 yards.

As the first half was winding down, the Dolphins seemed to gain some new momentum until an interception gave the opportunity for a last minute score back to Salem. The Ocean lakes defense did a good job holding the Sundevils, sending the game into halftime at 14-6.

Talking with Coach Prince at halftime, he said," I don't think Whaley can be stopped, unless we keep him in the locker room. Our job is to stop allowing Kresinske so much time to throw" He also commented about the loss of key defensive lineman James Rainey to a knee injury, "He is the heart of our defense and this is a big loss. The team rallied to stop the last drive to show how much they respect his leadership"

The second half was all Salem as Whaley scored two more touchdowns and the defense held Ocean Lakes to 17 second half yards. Salem topped Ocean lakes 254 - 46 total offense.

Salem goes into a bye week and Ocean Lakes faces First Colonial who toppled Cox last night 26-13.
