Whaley and Boone score 3 TDs each in Big Win
Salem established their power in the Beach District by pounding Princess Anne in the season opener, 54-0. By the time the Sun Devils had run 10 plays from scrimmage they led 20-0. The halftime score was 40-0 initiating the Mercy Rule for the first time and keeping the clock running the rest of the game.
Quarterback Rick Kresinske, the senior transfer from Atlantic Shores was very impressive in his Salem debut, completing 6 of 8 pass attempts for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Salem played their reserves and back-up Quarterback James McGrath the entire second half.
"We did a lot of good things, but there are still things we need to work on," Jackson said. "I thought Rick did a good job in his first game with us and of course Kevin played well. I was most impressed with our offensive line play." The offensive line provided lanes for over 245 yards rushing on 21 carries.
Cavaliers starting running back Xavier Morgan was taken to the hospital near the end of the game after an arm injury.
