Vikings Edge Falcons in Golf 162-160
Last Thursday the Briar Woods Falcons golf team defeated the Broad Run Spartans in a close match. On a chilly Monday evening at Brambleton Golf Club, they would face up with one of the best teams in the area, the Loudoun Valley Vikings. Although both teams' coaches expressed the fact that they did not play to full potential, several players from both teams posted impressive scores in preparation of the District Tournament.
Quite possibly one of the best players in Northern Virginia, Danny Bosse struck the ball well and finished with an impressive team low score of 38.
“I hit the ball just ok today but just fell off a bit,” says Bosse. “My putting wasn't there but going into the post-season, shooting a 38 is a confidence builder.”
Bosse hopes to qualify for the state tournament again as he did in 2005 along with teammate Matt Wallace, who recorded a score of 40 on the day.
“The course was really tough,” said Wallace. “I really need work on my short game going into districts to have a good chance of going back to states along with Danny.”
For the Falcons, Carl Brendes would shoot the match best with a score of 37. Despite posting the low score, the Falcons could not pull past the Vikings with other team scores of 38, 39, and a 48.
