Salem Posts Big Win Over Cox

Salem seemed to enter the game against Cox with some complacency, turning the ball over twice in the first quarter, including one fumble by Kevin Whaley. It didn't take long for Coach Jackson to get them back on track as they rolled over the Falcons 39-3 to remain undefeated and on top in the Beach District..

The Sun Devils defense held the Falcons to 10 yards in the first half and 50 total. Cox has had a big problem getting their new offense working in both their games this season.

Kevin Whaley (All Gameday Watch) had by most standards a great performance, scoring 3 touchdowns, including a 93 yard punt return, rushing for 137 yards and 1 interception, however by his usual standards, it was an off night. That is ok against a team like Cox, but next week, Salem hosts Ocean Lakes and this is sure to be a showdown of two powerhouses expecting to stay on top in the Beach District.

Listen to the game live on www.gamedaymagazine.com Thursday night.

Cox falls to 0-2 and faces First Colonial (1-2) next week.
