In an upset that confirms our prediction that the Beach District will be an exciting place to be this season, Ocean Lakes toppled Kempsville in the season opener. Roy Banks finished with an impressive 180 yards on 22 carries and rushed for 71 yards, including a 14-yard score, on the game's opening possession. The Dolphins finished the past two season 6-4
Kempsville's star running back Kevin Simmons is sidelined with an injury and they missed his ability to make the breakaway play when it counts. The Chiefs did have some good moments, scoring twice in the last 3 minutes of play, one after recovering an onside kick. Coach Jeff McGowan said. "I saw some good things from our kids.
