Patriots Make A Statement, Beat Vikings 35-14

(STERLING,VA) - The Park View Patriots made a loud and very impressive statement with their 35-14 win over Loudoun Valley on Friday night. Park View entered the game as the favorite to win the Dulles District, but there was some question whether or not they were tough enough, talented enough, and prepared enough to beat the Vikings, who play on the Group AAA level. You can check yes to all three questions because tonight's 35-14 victory over Valley certainly has raised some eyebrows.
Park View's workhorse was once again Deric Dudinski. Dudinski was electrifying in the ballgame and finished with 209 yards on 21 carries and 3 touchdowns. Dudinski scored from 41 yards out in the 1st quarter to help Park View increase their lead to 14-7. He would get in the end-zone again in the 3rd quarter and 4th quarter with touchdown runs of 10 yards and 48 yards respectively. Tonight marked the second straight game that Dudinski rushed for over 200 yards. Dudinski was named the Perfect Performance Player of the Game with his performance. Head Coach Andy Hill was impressed with how his senior tailback played against Valley.
“I thought Deric played a great game, and he really helped give us confidence with his leadership and his running on the field. He is a special player and he showed it tonight,” Hill said.
Patriot quarterback C.J. Leizear also had a good night and did a nice job of managing the Park View offense. Leizear completed 14 of 27 for 210 yards and a touchdown against a very solid Valley defense. Leizear's highlight throw came when he connected with receiver Danny Foley, who made a circus catch in the end-zone to help Park View increase their lead with only 4 seconds left in the 1st half.
While the Patriot offense was efficient, the difference in tonight's game was Park View's ability to take away the Loudoun Valley running game. Patriot Head Coach Andy Hill knew that was going to be the key, and he couldn't have been more pleased with the Patriot's play in the trenches.
“We knew going in that we were going to have to stop their running game. Our guys played lights out and it was a huge factor in the win,” Hill said.
The Patriots bottled up Loudoun Valley's talented running back Brian Oden, who was held to one score on the ground in the game. Oden had 203 yards and 4 touchdowns last week against Loudoun County, but tonight was only able to manage 19 yards on 13 carries against the Park View defense.
In year two of the Andy Hill era, the Patriots look like a state championship contender. While Hill sees many things to work on, he is really excited about how his team is playing with enthusiasm.
“I feel like the guys are really having fun. We have plenty to work on and we need to get better, but they really impressed me with how hard they played, and how they played with great emotion. Anytime you play football with the type of enthusiasm they showed tonight, you are going to have a chance to win some games,” Hill said.
With the win, Park View improved their record to 2-0 and Valley dropped to 1-1.
Game Honors: (Line-X Tough Guy of the Game)
The Line-X Tough Guy of the Game was Park View's Corbin Barnes. Barnes is a returning All Gameday player and one of the best defensive tackles in the area. His play in tonight's game against Valley was a major reason for Park View's win. Barnes finished with 3 sacks against the Vikings.
