Hedgesville and Berkeley Springs battle it out

Berkeley Springs went in to Mumaw Stadium to play Hedgesville on Monday looking to show the Eagles that they
better not take the Indians lightly. The Indians got off to a rocky start as Nathan Sirbaugh threw an interception in the Indians first series and Hedgesville capitalized with a touchdown to Michael Lopez and the Eagles added another score on a 43 yard run by Daniel Kershner. With 3:57 left in the first quarter the Indians came back charging as Sirbaugh found Ryan Morris for an 11 yard touchdown and Alex Moretz added the extra point making the score 13-7. Cody Hess broke loose for a 50 yard run down to the 5 yard line and two plays later scored to make the score 13-13 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter Sirbaugh was intercepted and returned for an Eagle touchdown with just over 8 minutes left in the second quarter to make the score 19-13, and later in the second half the Eagles added a field goal, with 1:32 left in the second quarter Sirbaugh found Morris open for a 12 yard touchdown pass and Josh Wise added the extra point to make the score 22-20 at half time. In the third quarter
the Eagles added another touchdown and the two point conversion for 30 - 20 score, but the Indians came right back as Sirbaugh found Morris again as he broke several tackles to get into the end zone and Wise added the extra point 30-27 at 4:20 in the third quarter. The Eagle defense came up big with 10:30 left in the fourth quarter as they stopped the Indians at the Eagles 5 yard line, but the Indians came back out and held the Eagles, forcing them to punt the ball away with 2:09 left in the fourth, the Indians moved the ball down to the 45 yard line and the Indians turned the ball over and the Eagles ran out the clock for the win 30-27.
