Hedgesville at Martinsburg-Week 1 Preview
WEEK 1 Hedgesville @ Martinsburg
Kickoff: 7:00pm
Coburn Field
Preview
The Eagles and Bulldogs Week one football game should be filled with alot of intesity and excitement. Both teams enter this game with high expectations in 2006. Hedgesville will have eight players that will be three year starters for the Eagles. With the experience returning for the Eagles combined with the excitement around the Eagles training camp, expect Hedgesville to be very competitive this season. The Bulldogs are loaded with talent and can't wait to start the season. Martinsburg returns their star running back Josh Twyman to go along with a very solid offensive line. The Bulldogs should be very balanced on offense with their ability to throw the football and run it extremely well.
Keys to the Game
-Hedgesvilles linebackers are a very experienced and strong unit. Can the Martinsburg line control this talented group?
-Martinsburg uses its wide open offense to spread the field. Can the Eagles match up with the Bulldogs speed in the open field?
-Richard Lane and Josh Twman are both very good running backs. The opposing defense that can limit the other teams running back production should win this game.
Players to watch
Hedgesville running back Richard Lane returns for his senior season and will be the leader of the eagle offense. Lane (5'8” 180) has great vision and can dominate a game with his quickness and power.
Martinsburg's Offensive line is a very talented group of players. Tyler Dopson, Matt Porter, Andy Joiner and Jesse Jean are all returning starters from last year. These players can dominate a game with their size and strength!
