Falcons Claim Hyde As Prey, 53-6

(Ashburn, VA) - The Briar Woods Falcons couldn't have hoped for a better outcome in their first ever varsity Football game. The Falcons faced Hyde in their first ever varsity football game on Friday night in Ashburn. The teams played the entire 48 minutes of the game, but it wasn't long until this one was in the books. Briar Woods jumped out to an early lead just minutes into the game, and never looked back.

Falcon Tim King caught a TD pass early in the first quarter to put Briar Woods up 7-0. King's touchdown grab was the first of two TD's for him on the night. It would be all Briar Woods until late in the 3rd quarter when Hyde would get their first score to put themselves on the board. Two big plays set the Falcons loose this evening. To start the 2nd half, Devin Barber returned the kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, while his teammate, Mike Flemming had took a 50 yard punt return to the house for another score.

Several Falcon players posted stellar performances including Quarterback Alex Munro. Munro went 5 for 6 for 97 yards with no interceptions. The impressive offensive line for the Falcons did not give up a sack in the blowout victory.

The Falcons finished with 177 total yards while Hyde only came away with a dismal 41. The Falcons nearly played a flawless game with only one turnover. The same cannot be said for Hyde, which fumbled the ball a total of 6 times. Despite being outscored, Hyde won the battle of time of possesion with 27:57 minutes compared to Briar Woods' mark of 20:03 minutes.

Briar Woods improved to 1-0 while Hyde fell to 0-1 after the contest.
