Test Your True Strength
Some student athletes train all year round. Some training when they want, some train because the coach requires them. Coaches give them “sport specific” and even “position specific” workout routines to follow. However, how many athletes are tested for their total physical strength away from competition? ((The bench, squat, power clean etc. can only show you so much in relationship to that particular lift.)) Inspired by real life experiences, the founder of Super Recruits and a former teammate feels the time has come to test the high school athlete in ways they have not yet experienced. While the training and lifting is absolutely necessary for getting faster and stronger, sometimes there is a need for some alteration in the daily routine.
The Super Recruits High School Competition is a new challenge that will push the student athlete, both physically and mentally, through events that will test even the toughest participants. The competition is open to high school athletes from Southern Maryland to Charlottesville. Each event will examine the training that the athlete has completed this year or throughout their career by showing those in attendance how hard they worked in the off season. This will also serve as a way for the athletes to see where they are in comparison with other athletes, and how much work they still have to do!
In this competition there will be two types of scoring, individual and team. When an athlete scores an individual point by placing in the top five, they also score points for their high school. At the end of the regular competition, the top three high schools will compete in the Hummer push; the obstacle course and 50 pound sled pull one FINAL time. The scoring for each of the six events has the first place finisher being awarded five (5) points, scaling down to the fifth place finisher being awarded one (1) point. Only thirty (30) athletes can score points (six events - five positions being awarded points) and that is what will make this competition unique. Each athlete will have to battle for every timed second in order to win individual prizes and earn points for their high school.
The event will be sponsored by well know companies donating services or products to provide an entertaining and educational competition. The event would not be possible without the main sponsor of the event, The U.S. ARMY. Additionally, Papa John's Pizza and Gatorade will be providing refreshments for competing athletes, Gold's Gym will be providing staff and awards for the 50 pound sled pull.
Bridgestone Tire will supply equipment for the tire flip event. The competition venue is Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, VA and they have graciously offered their facility
We hope to see the athletes represent their schools, counties and state on Saturday July 29th. Register online at www.superrecruits.com.
