Kaitlyn Hiltz to play at National Championships
At 16, Kaitlyn Hiltz may be one of the youngest players at the USA Field Hockey National Championships, but don't let her age fool you. The rising senior at Frank W. Cox High School has an extensive resume. This is her first year playing in the national championships, but it's her fourth in the National Futures Championship, a selection program for higher-level field hockey opportunities. Hiltz's involvement in Futures tournaments led her to the Futures Elite program last year.
At Cox, she will be a captain for the field hockey team this fall. Hiltz was previously named first-team All-Tidewater, first-team All-Beach, first-team All-Eastern Region and first-team All-State. In 2005, she led the Eastern Region in scoring, with 28 goals and 17 assists, and helped lead Cox to the state quarterfinals.
She recently committed to play at the University of Virginia, beginning in 2007.
