Broad Run Wins Group AA Regional Title Over Turner Ashby:
The Spartans continued their cinderella season with a 3-0 win over the team that put them out of the playoffs a year ago, Turner Ashby. Broad Run recieved another tremendous pitching performance from Caitlyn Delahaba who won her 23rd game of the year. Delahaba struck out 13 hitters and only walked 3. Spartan Haley Johnson helped Broad Run get on the scoreboard with a big hit that drove in Michele Clohan and Ashley Kramer. Delahaba drove in Kramer in the next inning and Broad Run held onto the lead to capture the regional championship. The Spartans will host Powhatan in the state quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7pm in Ashburn.
Bulldogs Sweep Through Regionals To Claim Title Over Oakton:
Stone Bridge didn't need much to beat the top seeded Oakton Cougars on Friday Night with the way Bulldog Ace Breighana Harris was pitching, but they got it anyway. Stone Bridge's Stephanie St. Peter and Kayla Lechler hit back to back doubles to give the Bulldogs and Harris a 3-0 cushion going into the final 3 innings. Harris retired the final 13 Cougar hitters and Stone Bridge claimed their first Group AAA Regional Title. The Bulldogs will host a state quarterfinal matchup against Mills Godwin next week.
Potomac Falls Downs the Pride For the 3rd Time To Win Region:
The Panthers had been back and forth on a school bus to Turner Ashby twice this week due to weather delays, but that didn't stop them from beating the Heritage Pride for the Regional Championship on Friday. Panther Matt Clem and Ben Biber scored goals in the contest to lead Potomac Falls past the Pride and the weather 2-0. Potomac Falls will host a state quarterfinal game this week.
Raiders Clinch Regional Title With Win Over Park View:
The County Men’s Tennis Team are the Region II Champions, defeating Park View. David Replogle, David Galuski, Paul Marshall and Andrew Cypher won their singles match. Going into the doubles, the match favored County 4-2 and the Raiders needed just one doubles match to win. To be on the safe side, the Raiders swept all three doubles, with Galuski/Marshall, Replogle/Bryant Bland and Vojtech Gall/Peter Satagaj winning their matches. The Raiders will play the champions of Region I in a semi-final match at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Friday June 9th at Virginia Tech
