Kempsville's Ramirez to play in all-star Game
Kempsville pitcher Neil Ramirez has been selected to play in the Aflac All-American High School Baseball Classic in San Diego. Thirty-eight players are selected for the prestigious showcase, which will be played Aug. 12 and televised live by Fox Sports. Baseball America and the scouting service Perfect Game USA selected the players.
Ramirez, regarded as one of the top rising senior pitchers in the nation, has a 90-plus-mph fastball, and went 4-3 with 67 strikeouts and a 1.05 ERA this past season as a junior. He will be presented with an All-American jersey before the Washington Nationals game at RFK Stadium on July 5th.
