Spartan Girls Tennis Squad goes to 13-0 with win
With what may be the best kept secret of excellence this spring, the Broad Run Girls Tennis team continued to dominate the rest of the field and extended their winning streak to 13 in a row with a 6-3 win over Potomac Falls on Wednesday. Broad Run was led by #2 seed Allie Sleeman who defeated Amanda Rivers from Potomac Falls 10-2. Brook Baurenfiend, Cathryn Gitner, and Alex Creech also won their matches. #1 seed Alex Dorris lost a close match with Panther Alex Gucwa and Caitrin Dwyer also lost by the same score to Cat Jones.
Broad Run's double teams all won their matches to help the Spartans remain undefeated with only one game to go in the regular season. On Thursday, Broad Run will matchup with a talented Loudoun County girls tennis team to play for the Dulles District Championship. That title match will be held at Broad Run High School and will start at 4:30pm. The winner of Thursday's matchup will receive an automatic bid to the regional playoffs. The loser will have to win the Dulles District Tournament or finish #2 behind the winner of tomorrow's match.
Spartan Boys Tennis Falls 5-4 to Panthers
The Broad Run boys lost to Potomac Falls 5-4 yesterday in a competitive matchup between two solid tennis programs. #1 seed Patrick Melbourne won his match for the Spartans and the # 1 doubles team of Patrick Sheehan and Patrick Melbourne were also victorious against Potomac Falls.
