Price, Ballentine lead Panthers past Spartans 4-0
The Potomac Falls Panther baseball team won a very important game on Tuesday against Broad Run and took sole possession of 3rd place in the Dulles District standings. Tied at 0-0 in the 4th inning, the Panthers took advantage of an errant pick off attempt from Broad Run pitcher Cole Shain with the bases loaded. On the play, the ball sailed over the first baseman's head and into foul territory. Brandon Ballentine, John Bracken, and Aaron Sweger all scored on the play to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead.
Potomac Falls added a run on a Nick Price single that helped teammate Cory Flickinger score and increase the lead to 4-0. Price pitched 5 scoreless innings, striking out 6 and scattering 8 hits. Price's control and poise helped him get out of several situations where the Spartans had baserunners in scoring position.
Freshman Jacob Kline continues to be an impressive find for Potomac Falls as he pitched 2 scoreless innings and made his 4th straight relief appearance.
Potomac Falls can clinch a 3rd place finish in the Dulles District regular season standings with a win on Friday.
