Pfiel, Madden & Houchins Help Chiefs Clinch #1

The No. 1 Kempsville Chiefs (15-4, 12-3) clinched at least a tie for the Beach District title as the bats of Becky Pfeil, Vicki Madden and Emily Houchins backed the pitching of Kaitlin Mayer (6-2) in a victory over Cox 5-1.

Kellam stunned Princess Anne 5-0 as Anna Zitt backed the shutout pitching of Stephanie Kemp with three hits and three RBIs for the No. 8 Knights (11-7, 10-4), who vaulted past the No. 4 Cavaliers (13-5, 9-5) into second place in the Beach District . Kemp (11-6) limited Princess Anne to four hits.

The Stallions (8-5-1) ran their winning streak to six as Rose Gressley outlasted Kendra Knight in eight innings.
Both threw three-hitters. Gressley logged 15 strikeouts to Knight's 19. Whitney Robinson's two- run single broke the deadlock, following a walk and a bunt single. Green Run topped Salem 2-0
